PROGRAM, SERVICES, & ENROLLMENT





Elder and Adult Day Services (EADS) has provide structured, comprehensive, non-residential adult day health care for adults of all ages since 1984. Offered in a safe and caring home-like environment, these cost-effective programs give families an affordable alternative to costly nursing and/or residential care and help improve the health, well-being, and quality of life for each person served.
 
To tour a Center or begin the enrollment process
We encourage families and prospective participants to tour our Centers to see our programs in action. We offer a free first day visit (2-4 hours) with no obligation to enroll. To schedule a visit, request an enrollment application, or get further information, please contact one of our four Centers.

Adult Day Health benefits: 
The enrolled person who:
  • Needs minimal to maximum assistance to maintain a level of independence
  • Has experienced changes in mental, physical or social abilities
  • Is socially isolated in the community
  • Wants to remain living in his/her home environment
      The care provider who:
    • Could use a regularly scheduled break
    • Works outside the home
    • Is concerned about leaving a loved one alone
    • Is feeling tired, overwhelmed or alone as a caregiver
    • Is worried about his or her own health
    • Wants an affordable alternative to nursing home or in-home services
        Hours
        EADS has four Centers located in King and Kitsap Counties. Hours vary from Center to Center, but generally are open 8:30 am – 5:30 pm, Monday – Friday. 

        EADS Centers offer:
        Group Activities designed to promote health, life-time learning, build endurance, and enhance skills and functional abilities. Each Center has developed their own unique activity schedule to meet the individual needs of the participants served at that location.
      • Therapeutic and social activities for all ages and abilities
      • Art, gardening, music
      • Discussion groups, news, current & past world events
      • Reading, cards, cooking
      • Wood-working, recreation
      • Memory work, word games, reminiscing
      • Dementia-specific activities
      • Specialized programs for younger adults
          Health Services
        • Nursing assessment and treatment
        • Management of chronic health conditions: diabetes; high blood pressure
        • Podiatry care and routine nail care
        • Nutritious meals and snacks; specialized diets
        • Medication management 
        • Wound care
        • General health monitoring 
        • Personal care assistance
            Rehabilitative Therapy
          • Occupational therapy
          • Strengthening, balance and endurance programs
          • Structured exercise and walking programs 
          • Training in use of walkers, canes and other equipment 
          • Speech and physical therapy referrals
              Social Support Services
            • Consultation with clients, caregivers and families
            • Support Groups for families and caregivers
            • Individualized plans of care with quarterly review 
            • Referrals to community resources 
                Transportation coordination arranged through Access and DSHS para-transit services

                Fees/Payment Options
                Private pay rates are determined on a sliding scale based on the enrolled participant’s income, ranging from $40.00 up to $68.00 for an individualized 4-hour program day. Extended care hours cost $12.00 per for each additional hour beyond the base program day.
                Other funding options available for EADS participants include DSHS programs, Veterans Administration, Respite, private insurance, and DDD funding. Additional paperwork may be required to meet eligibility guidelines.
